Christmas Island

I had been spending many Christmas/New Year Holidays on islands

I first heard of Christmas Island and the Cocos (Keeling Islands) during my first journey to Maldives in 1991

Christmas Island is a territory of Australia in the Indian Ocean located 2,600 kilometers (1,600 miles) northwest of the Western Australian city of Perth. The annual, estimated 120 millions, red crab migration at the beginning of the rainy season, however, is so massive it can be seen from the air.

This island gets swamped with crabs every year as hundreds of millions of them migrate and reproduce during their mating season. It is so creepy to see so many crabs crawling at once.
