He had been in the industry for an incredible long time, for a professional photographer. Not only he has managed to cast out this super-wide-angle network of multitasking moonlighting and career that spanned 30 years, he is also a dedicated professional in many fields that's able to maintain a healthy work relationship and oversee to juggle a vast range of fields, in terms of photography and gigs, with atypical magnetism.
Don Schumann has been taking assignments worldwide — showcasing stupendous representative works of wide compass of themes, styles, and medias — since 1988. He used to cover a broad range of subjects and has won its place in a couple transcontinental countries. Shooting editorial, scenery, interior, glamour, fashion and people portrait… for industrial, commercial, entertainment and advertising clients. His feature articles of geography, history, personal international travel, food and dining for both (periodical and/or in-flight) magazines and major newspapers frequently appear since 1995. A couple of picture-oriented title and (including a handful of multinational awarded and regional best-selling) travel books published in between.
He is at his most comfortable and confident when working solo — it’s not his style to run roughshod over anyone in his way, but he is fine with breezing right past those folks who can’t keep up — relying on his wits empowers him an energetic rush and the verve to rise to nearly any challenge.
He had once came up with the idea of naming himself (an unforeseen and a pigeon English term of) "Hotel Trotter" (in English) / "旅店浪人" (in Chinese) / "ホテル浪人" (in Japanese, rōnin in Japanese kanji) — now, “Live Sopherically” a.k.a. “Topherculitis”. These Blogger ID names, evolve over time in different phases, perfectly fit right into his career arc of combining lifestyle with world travel.
He had been frequently traveling (in a high-flown fashion, no doubt) and often away for long stretches while he was building his own unique freelance writing and photography career around the globe, since 1988. Flying off to and touching down in 3 countries for three individual works within a 24-hour time is his unbreakable record up to the moment. Now he is staying “inactive”, but remaining engaged in moonlighting, to regain and to get a little extra rest as best as he possibly can.
