Love Market

Before you, I included, might think about anything improper,

The Love Market, opens on Saturday evenings, in Sapa is one that is very old and spans numerous eras and just by this story alone. It has been an unique and valuable aspect in the culture of the Mong and Dao ethnic groups for a long time.

This market serves for trading: buying and selling, period. No one there is for sale nor buying love. So why do they call it Love Market? Ironically, boys and girls from scattered villages who take advantages of the weekly event to meet each other.

Footnote: similar venues happen on floating market of Titicaca Lake in Peru, I had visited in 1999. But the later, boys and girls are just taking off eloping into the thin air at night, on the spot. Anyway..., both traditional hassle-free ways are most effective and instant, no long chat, no Tinder needed!
