Jagalchi Fish Market

One of the collaboration projects I worked with South Korea government — KNTO, now called KTO — in the mid 1990's

It is the biggest fish market in Korea

Opening from five a.m., is filled with all kinds of seafood from penis fish (you will have to see it yourself!) to whale meant. Jagalchi Fish Market (자갈치시장) is a fish market, stalls usually handled by rowdy middle-aged married women (hence the name) called "Ajumma", in the neighborhood of Nampo-dong in Jung-gu, and Chungmu-dong, Seo-gu, Busan, South Korea. The market is located on the edge of Nampo Port (남포항), Busan. The name is said to have originated from jagal (자갈 meaning gravel in Korean) because the market used to be surrounded by gravel. This is one of the ten landmarks of Busan, not only tourists visit there to shop and you will find so many Russian passers-by (which never been mentioned in any articles nor websites). Why?

To get you in the knowthey are mostly Russian sailors, merchants and related practitioners (here is a seaport, remember that)!
