Thailand Closes Dive Sites
Thailand declined to say how many diving spots would be closed or how extensive the damage was to the reefs.

More than 80 percent of southern Thailand's 15,000 hectares of the corals at 18 dive sites have undergone bleaching, a symptom of severe stress caused by excessively warm water temperatures. Corals can recover from bleaching, but if the stress is too acute, they die.
