I stayed at this finest hotel in Chiang Mai, now placed 7th on the "world best hotel" list of 2011 and it was the only hotel in Southeast Asia to figure among the top ten

My first/last stays were three years before/after the resort was fully completed, in six years time. And exactly the same 5-meters (16-feet) high ceiling suite room, with private entry hall and an extra guest bathroom, of colonial style!
