Phanom Rung

I had come across this impressive Hindu shrine, built between the 10th and 13th centuries, dedicated to Shiva when I set foot covering in the isolated five rural provinces for a geographic magazine in the early 2000's

Our team was the first international media to disclose these unseen UNESCO treasures to the general public in the world.

#Nāga ; in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism, the Nāga or Nagi (female) are divine, semi-divine deities, or a semi-divine race of half-human half-serpent beings that reside in the netherworld (Patala) and can occasionally take human form. They are common and hold cultural significance in the mythological traditions of many South Asian and Southeast Asian cultures

The steep ridge mountains completely isolate the northeastern region from mainland Thailand.

For Thais, it is totally like a piece of foreign land, even their own country's media are rarely setting foot in. Not to mention our group flew in by a charter plane to visit as the first international magazine.

For two weeks, our team has been running back and forth between the five provinces for work.

As the only foreign geographical magazine of us, everywhere we went was packed with the local people around, every picture I took must to take time to ask onlookers to avoid, even on the difficult-to-climb and arduous mountains shooting would also cause uproars.

This Khmer temple — built of sandstone and laterite, called Prasat Hin Phanom Rung — is a Hindu Khmer Empire temple complex set on the rim of an extinct volcano at 402 meters (1,319 ft) elevation. It is located in Buriram (literally meaning "happiness") Province in the Isan region, set in Northeastern Thailand, and was built at a time when Khmer social-political influences were significant in (neighboring provence) Sisaket (now spelled Srisaket).
